Raise your voice

My dad is a lot like me--quiet and reserved when you first get to know him, but once you open him up he is a total goof-ball. And, when he talks, I listen. So, today when he got home from work and out of the blue told me that he can really hear my 'voice' in my writing, I felt elated. No matter what I'm writing about, I don't ever want to lose my voice--it's too important to me. My dad will never know how much that one, simple comment meant. I can only hope, in the near future, that an editor will think I am talented enough to be heard.
