My top red carpet moments

I haven't done a fashion post in a while, so I thought I would share with you guys some of my favorite red carpet looks worn by a few of my favorite stylistas.

If you couldn't tell, Beyonce's frock that I put front and center is my most coveted. I would so wear that in white to my wedding, with a pink bow of course. And, so sorry to Cameron Diaz who's head got chopped off by Eva Mendes. I'm still working on the whole photo editing thing.

Enjoy and let me know what you guys think!

Recap: Marley & Me

Ok, so Marley and Me was good, but not quite what I expected. I haven't read the book so I went into the movie with zero expectations. I went with my family and we were hoping to see a funny, care free holiday flick. Let's just say that by the last ten minutes of the movie, my mom and I were collecting all of the crumpled napkins from the cup-holders that we could to pat the water works streaming from our eyes. Without giving too much away (although I'm sure most of you can guess what happens) it was quite the tear jerker.

I happened to enjoy it, except for the few times my mom leaned over to ask what time it was. The flick was two hours and my brother, mom and dad all agreed that it could have been much shorter and still achieved the same point. I'm a sucker for most movies involving any kind of cute animal so I guess I am bias. (I caught myself saying 'aww' out loud at least five times when Marley ran across the screen). Anyway, if you're looking for a movie which takes you through the ups and downs of life and exemplifies the whole meaning of family, then I would recommend Marley & Me. If not, just go see it to enjoy the Miami scenery. I'm going to miss Florida, but definitely not the humidity. 80 degrees in December....really? How is that even possible?

Have yourself a merry little Christmas.

Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays everyone!!! I hope you guys are having a healthy & happy day with your families. I'm only two days away from the big move so I am trying to savor every minute I have left at home.

I'm really going to miss my family, but I know they won't be strangers to Austin. After all, Texas is where my parents shared their first few years and had my brother and I. Alright, I'm going to go enjoy the day and we're going to see Marley & Me this afternoon. Expect a full report.

XOXO,
EMZ

"Let me buy you a drank..."

I hear that sentence about a thousand times a night when I'm out with Alisha. I'm so excited because it's Friday, and MY BFF COMES IN TOWN TODAY!!!! ETA is 6:20 PM, and I will be at the airport waiting for her! Next stop: the bar! hah I can't wait to see her, and I can only imagine the kind of trouble we are going to get into tonight.

(Picture's of us at XS in Gainesville mixing our own tunes, because who has to request anyway).

Give me the green light, I'm ready to go right now.

When I walked into the local watering hole last night, I thought I was being punk'd and actually walking into my five-year high school reunion. Who knew so many people go out on a Wednesday night and so many of them still live in Tampa, or should I say "South" Tampa? (gag me).

It was surreal to see most of the people I have not laid eyes on in years, and it's crazy that no matter how much time passes, the same groups still hang out. I don't really know if that's a good or bad thing, but all in all, I think it's quite interesting. Last night was good for me because I got to see a lot of people that I had no idea if I would ever see again, and it got me all the more excited to start this next great adventure in my life.

Also, I'm starting to realize that Tampa night-life is nothing compared to what I am use to. I definitely need a change. I will miss all of my Tampa girls, but like me, their futures are uncertain and who knows where they will be in the next year or so. It's been nice to be home for a few weeks and really enjoy time with my family before the big move, and I am so grateful to have grown up in such a beautiful place. But, life's a changing, and I'm so ready for it. Bring it on.

Emz Knows Best.

I can't even tell you how many times I have seen The Hogan Clan at my mall in Tampa. Terry Bollea, aka Hulk, grew up here, and he now has a house about 30 minutes away in Clearwater. I guess they have a little place in their heart for International Mall, (I know I do), because they always seem to come to my neck of the woods to shop.

I've seen Brooke and Linda shopping at Neiman Marcus and Bebe on several occasions, and just a few months ago, I saw Linda and her 19-year-old boy toy walking hand in hand out of Nordstrom's shoe department. My mom and I were grabbing coffee at the little cafe, and I spotted them and grabbed her arm so we could follow them. She was annoyed, because believe it or not, my own mother is not phased by celebrities. Well, I guess except for Derek Jeter or maybe George Clooney, but I just had to get a picture to send into perez! I emailed him right when I got home, but sadly he didn't post it. I'm sure he gets about a million "spotted" e-mails a day, and honestly, the Hogans are barely pushing the D-List (even though Linda is dating someone 30 years her junior) so I guess I can understand why a Jen Aniston/John Mayer post might get top billing.

Anyway, back to today: I was walking by Abercrombie & Fitch upstairs, when I spotted this tall figure standing behind a movie bill-board talking loudly on his cell phone. It looked like he was trying to conceal himself, but he was dressed head to toe in orange. I'm talkin' the whole nine yards, people: shirt, shoes, bandana and come to think of it, even his skin matched his whole ensemble. I can imagine it would be pretty hard to hide the fact that you are "The Hulk", and it was funny to watch people's reactions when they walked by him and realized who it was.

I find it comforting to know that you can spot celebrities, even if they're not A-listers, in good ol' Tampa Bay.
(I hear Sandra Bullock and Matthew McConaughey both have homes in Austin. Watch out!)

A touch of caramel, a pinch of honey and a tad bit of gold

So, it's official, my mom and I have divorced our hair-stylist, Candy, whom we have been going to for 15+ years. I love the man, but he makes you wait and wait and wait, lets you know if you have gained weight, and charges a ludicrous amount of money for a haircut/color that I was never fully content with, until..... TODAY!

My mom was recommended Julie from family friends, and I had my appointment with her today. I was a little nervous going to a new person, and as usual, I brought in a pic of a celeb for inspiration. (This visit was Jenn Anniston). Julie did an amazing job, and I am so happy with how the final look came out. She even blew-dry my hair, which is such a treat for me. I always went home with wet hair from Candy's because he charged an extra $30 to dry.

What do you guys think?

One Long Island comin' right up.....

Laura's home from her first semester of Law School, which means one thing: we are celebrating tonight!! I am so excited for our girls night out in Channelside! We're going to drink out of fish-bowls (literally) and dance our little hearts out to every rap song that suits our fancy. I'm so excited, but must take a baby nap before I meet up with the girls. Pictures to follow.....

(pic's of me and L.D. last year sippin' away on our spiked iced-tea...sharing is caring!) :)

All I want for Christmas is, well, either one of these...

Maybe it was all the talk about Kevin Connolly in my last post or that the weather outside is getting "frightful," but I'm feeling a little frisky and decided to share with you all my top three Hollywood crushes (Kev, Channing Tatum & Gerard Butler). Leave me yours in the comment section!

And, as for now, just sit back and enjoy.....

"Is your house on fire, Clark?" "No, Aunt Bethany, those are the Christmas lights."

My little brother got home from college last night for the holiday break and suggested that we watch a movie as a family that, gasp, we all agreed on. Let me just say, my dad is so thankful to have Justin home because now the clicker/remote control is no longer in my mom and I's hands. The nights of watching Dancing with the Stars and Desperate Housewives after dinner are long gone, well at least for another two weeks while J is home.

Magically, Christmas Vacation was on last night and we all screamed in unison, "Lets watch it!" It definitely brings the LOLz!!

Also, a little side-note for all of you Entourage fans: Clark's wife now plays Babs, Ari's partner, in the show. Thanks to J, Entourage is one of my new fave shows, and I can't wait for season six!! I have a baby-crush on "E" aka Kevin Connolly. Alright, I'm rambling now. Hope you guys have a fab weekend!!

So glad my Exes DON'T live in Texas :)

As some of you all may know, Liz and I have decided to move to Austin, TX the day after Christmas! We're driving up with our moms, and I somehow have to cram my entire life into Herby (yes, my car has a name). I'm a little worried that I won't be able to fit everything I want, but I'm not bringing any furniture with me, just clothes/shoes/accessories/a few household items for our new kitchen/and a small TV for my room. (hah I'll let you guys know how it all fits at a closer date).

We leave two weeks from tomorrow, and I'm not gunna lie, I am a little nervous to move to a brand-new city and start a new life, but I am so thankful I have Liz with me. And, hey, if I can survive New York alone for 2 1/2 months, I'm pretty sure I can handle anything.

When we were there a couple weeks ago, we found the perfect apartment. It's two blocks away from 6th street (Austin's "Bourbon St."), we have a walking path to the flag-ship Whole Foods, Starbucks is right around the corner, and Anthropologie is across the street. Needless to say, we are set. As far as the apartment is concerned, we have the most gorgeous pool area, a roof-top terrace where we can have a glass of wine after work, and a fountain/fire-pit area downstairs that is perfect for reading/writing. It kind of reminds me of where LC and Heidi lived in the first season of The Hills, minus all the drama.

Ok, seriously is it Dec. 26th yet? I'm so excited and as always, I will keep you guys updated on this next great adventure!! Also, I have included a pic for your viewing pleasure, so if we like you, feel free to come visit us anytime!! :)

XX,
Emz

This has "Emz" written all over it...

Ok, so when that fateful day arrives that I'm married and decide to have a baby, I just might have to deliver my first-born in Taiwan. "Say what?" Well, they have just opened a (gasp) maternity ward dedicated to my favorite furry feline: Miss Hello Kitty! Seriously, is this a sign or what? I really hope the States decide to steal this idea, because then I might actually look forward to giving birth. I wonder if the hospital offers pink epidurals?

"From blankets and birth certificates to cots and uniforms worn by staff, every aspect of the Hello Kitty hospital is emblazoned with the feline motif.
Patients are welcomed by a statue of Hello Kitty dressed in a doctor's uniform, before travelling in a Hello Kitty elevator to a pink examination room with Hello Kitty posters on the wall.
The hospital's director Tsai Tsung-chi opened the £2m (T$100m) hospital in his hometown after obtaining authorisation from the fictitious cat's Japanese parent company Sanrio Co Ltd.
Describing the objectives of the hospital, he said: "I wish that everyone who comes here, mothers who suffer while giving birth and children who suffer from an illness, can get medical care while seeing these kitties and bring a smile to their faces, helping forget about discomfort and recover faster," according to www.telegraph.co.uk

It's great to be a Florida Gator!!

I don't really have much else to say today then................GOOOOO GATORS!!! BEAT BAMA!

"Even though Alabama is unbeaten and ranked higher, Florida goes into the game as a commanding 10-point favorite. The high-powered Gators are the nation's third highest-scoring team (46.3 points a game), and their 11 victories have been by an average of 37.3 points," according to seattlepi.com

The last laugh.

I know this is fairly old news, but I just lovesss it!
Team Jenn!
Also, can't wait to see "Marley & Me." I cried during the trailer, so I know it's gunna be a winner! :)

It's the most wonderful time of the year.

My dad came home last night from work in a particularly good mood. It's that time of the year when we all look back on the year we've had and start to appreciate all of the blessings around us. We're healthy, happy and at the end of the day, that's really all that matters.

His request last night was that we watch "It's A Wonderful Life" after dinner. We own the movie and for some reason I never have watched it with my mom and dad even though they watch it every Christmas. It's black and white and set in the 1920's, and I guess I just figured I wouldn't be able to relate. Let's just say I ate my words because by the end of the movie, my dad looked over and tears were literally flooding my face.

There's a great quote that I just loved when the main character, George Bailey asks the girl he likes, Mary:
"What do you want, Mary? Do you want the moon? If you want it, I'll throw a lasso around it and pull it down for you."

I mean really, who talks like that anymore?

Another White Christmas

(Me & Shel-Bel last Christmas Eve)

The white Christmas tree has officially been busted out of storage for the second year in a row. Having a "faux" tree last year made my mom's holiday season so much easier because my brother, dad and I did not get sick. We did miss the smell of pine with our trees of christmases-past, and picking out which one we wanted from the local lot, but I'll tell ya, the cough and runny nose that came with it was kind of a downer year after year.

As much as my brother and I complained about not having the real thing, our new tree has really grown on me. It's so sparkly and definitely makes a statement, which as you all know, I'm all about. It's fun every now and then to break traditions and start new ones. It spices things up. Happy Holidays!

"Why are you smiling?" "Because smiling's my favorite."

I can not believe it's already December, and I have yet to watch my all-time favorite holiday movie: Elf! This is one of those classics that I can watch with my family just about everyday leading up to Christmas.

I guess there's something oddly humorous about seeing Will Ferrell squeeze his giant limbs into a skin-tight leotard, and yet still fooling me year after year that he really is just an innocent, slightly 'special' elf who loves spreading holiday cheer.

So, tell me, what are your favorite holiday classics?

Her life may be a 'Circus', but she's the ring-leader.

Happy Birthday Brit!!!

Did anyone see her performance(s) this morning on Good Morning America? I have to say, over the years, she has become a better walker than dancer. She walks to her marks on the dance floor (well actually for this album, i guess it's considered a circus rink) and just kind of throws her arms and head back. But I guess you could argue that this is all for the sole purpose of flaunting those rock-hard ab's, which I must admit are back in action. (I hope my body bounces back like that after two kids, or that I can afford a good trainer.)

Anyway, on this monumental "don't call it a come-back" day, I can only reflect on where my lil Brit was just a year ago. Case in point: take a deeper look at the picture I posted. Her hair was yellow, not blonde. After the infamous "buzz cut", she replaced her flowing locks with sewn-in pieces of what could be horse hair. Her party guests included Sam Lufti and her creepy friend/pseudo cousin, and her two little angels were no where in sight.

However, on GMA this morning her family took over the first two rows of her sold-out concert, and the likes of Hugh Jackman, Reese Witherspoon and Taylor Swift wished her a happy birthday. She recently sat down with Glamour Magazine Writer, James Patrick Herman, and admitted: “I don’t like going out. I hate clubs. I hate being around too many people. I love my home and staying in bed and watching Dancing With the Stars or reading a Danielle Steel novel. I’m kind of boring." I have a feeling home-girl's life is never "boring." It's amazing what a year can do to a person. I'm rooting for you girl friend! Oh, and go out and buy her CD today. I've previewed most of the songs, and can't wait to learn all the words!
