My ears are ringing. Everytime it comes on I walk a little faster, and I want to sing along at the top of my lungs. But, so far the only time it comes on, when I'm not in the comfort of my own home (sorry, roomies) is when I'm listening to my I-Pod on the way to class. I don't want to scare away the new little freshman SURROUNDING my campus! Ugh, but that's a whole other issue.
In case you haven't guessed, I have a new song/band obsession. I first heard Tegan and Sara Quinn on MtvU when I was home this weekend and was immediately drawn to their song "Back in your head." They are identical twins from Canada and I just downloaded about 10 of their songs and love each one more than the last. Check them out.
Seriously, what is this my second plug in a week? First, www.itsmeseanny.com and now I'm endorsing a band? I need to start getting paid for this.........One day.......
Here's my new fave song/video for your listening enjoyment:

Just keep swimming....

So I'm just enjoying my last day home before I start my second session of summer school. I have had the BEST week break from school (evidence from the above picture). It was so nice to be able to sleep in, really adhere to my new exercise and diet plan and just visit with my wonderful family. I also love getting to see my high school friends who have been scattered around the country for the past four years. It's kind of unspoken, but after this summer, I don't know when I will ever see some of them again. Maybe at our 10 year reunion? Which, by the way, is only 6 years away! What? Wow....I feel so old, and it just hit me that I only have 6 weeks left of school....ever!

Since when did Mario Lopez think he could dance?

So, my latest guilty pleasure in reality television is America's Best Dance Crew. Randy Jackson is doing something right. Screw American Idol, this show is a hit. Most of the "crews" give me goosebumps when they perform and my money is on the group, A.S.I.I.D. Seriously, the sickest dance moves I have ever seen (wow I'm starting to sound like Lil Mama).
Watching these people contort their bodies in ways I didn't think were possible makes me a bit jealous that I didn't continue on in my dance career. When I was younger, my mom said I hated going to jazz and ballet classes, so she told me I didn't have to go anymore. I always tell her she should have just made me suck it up, but she never wanted to be one of 'those mothers.' You know, the Dina Lohan and Lynne Spears types....aka Stage Moms. I guess I can support her on that decision.
ABDC plays about every hour on MTV so if you haven't seen it, don't worry you will have ample opportunity. And, I've learned some sweet new moves from the show that I can't wait to test out next time I'm 'in da club!'

"Exercise gives you endorphins & endorphins make you happy, happy people just don't kill their husbands. They just don't"--Elle Woods

Wanna work out like Me/Em? Yes, I just recently figured out my name is "me" spelled backwards. Coincidence? I think not. Anywho, I am taking this blog's inspiration from my dear friend, Seanny. (here's a little plug, if you want some breezy reading and want to see what life is like for a true Manhattan socialite, check out itsmeseanny.com) And, no he did not pay me to endorse his blog. I just happen to particularly enjoy it and figured my readers might as well. But, don't go liking his more than mine! :)
Sean recently posted his current playlist for his 6 AM jogs through Central Park. Me....Bitter? Noooo, not at all! (riiiiight). I actually added some of his songs to my playlist, but definitely don't agree with New Kids On The Block's "Summertime"--never been a big fan of them. But that's probably because my heart belongs to BSB!!!
Here's my playlist, which at the moment, ensures that I spend at least 35 minutes on the elliptical, if not more:
1--Chris Brown (Forever)
2--Rihanna (Take a Bow)
3--Colby O Donis Ft. Akon (What you got)
4--2 Pistols Ft. T-Pain (She got it)
5--Rihanna (Disturbia)
6--Paper Planes (MIA)
7--Savage (Swing)
8--Estelle w/ Kanye West (American Boy)
9--Jesse McCartney (I'm Leaving)
10--Ashlee Simpson (Little Miss Obsessive)
11--Kanye West Ft. Chris Martin (Homecoming)
12--Plies Ft. Neyo (Bust it Baby Remix)
13--Lil Wayne (The Sky's The Limit, A Milli & Lollipop)
14--Rick Ross Ft. T-Pain (The Boss)
15--Miley Cyrus (See you again)
So go break a sweat and listen to what emz sez. Happy exercising! :)

i wanna wake up in a city that doesn't sleep.....

Wow...so it's been almost a month since my last post. Turns out taking 19 credits and writing for the school paper has taken a toll on my creative juices. Sorry for neglecting you all, but I promise to be better about updating you on my life.
Ah, so where to begin--I am currently an insomniac. I think the stress of applying for jobs, feeling rejection, wanting NY so bad, seeing pictures of my friends already up there enjoying their fab lives, and my parents constant pestering has really started to take its effect on me. I'm just really grateful I have a week break from school to really focus on my future.
I edited my resume and have been tailoring my cover letter to appeal to each publication I apply to. I've been maninly focusing on celeb and fashion magazines (my ideal places are InStyle, Harper's Bazaar, Vanity Fair, People, Us Weekly, & Glamour). Vogue wouldn't be too shabby either, but my goal is to work there sometime later in life when I have established myself as a credible journalist. (kind of like what Carrie Bradshaw did in the SATC movie).
Well, thats my life right now in a nut shell. I'm just in a bit of a funk lately, but I know "this too shall pass." My peers seem to be equally stressed and as anxious for the future as I am, so its nice to know we're all in the same boat. Regardless, I am more determined than ever now. NYC or bust!
